What makes a page quotable by an AI assistant?
An assistant answering a question composes one answer from a few sources rather than listing ten. The pages it draws from are the ones it can lift a clean block out of: an opening paragraph that answers the title, headings phrased as questions, and the answer directly under each one rather than three paragraphs later. Specific figures and names help too, because a summary of vague writing is just more vague writing.
How is the score calculated?
Four signals. Whether the opening paragraph answers the title and is short enough to quote whole, worth 30. How many headings are phrased as questions, worth 25, with full marks at three or more. Whether a short answer sits directly under each question heading, worth 20. How many checkable facts the writing contains per hundred words, worth 25. The weights are deliberate: the opening carries the most because it is the block most often extracted.
Why does it not check my structured data?
Because it cannot see it. Article and FAQ markup live in the page HTML, not in the text you paste, and scoring them as absent would give everyone a low number for a reason they could not act on from here. Structured data is genuinely the other half of being quotable; this tool measures the half that lives in the writing.
Is GEO different from SEO?
They overlap heavily. The difference is structural: generative engine optimisation cares whether a clean answer can be extracted from the page, which classical SEO never needed to care about. A page can rank well and still be unquotable, which matters more each year as buyers ask an assistant instead of scrolling results.
Does a high score mean I will be cited?
No, and anyone promising that is guessing. Nobody controls whether an assistant cites a given page. What you can do is make a page easy to quote and then watch whether it gets quoted. This measures the first part.
