How long should a blog post be?
There is no length that ranks by itself. What correlates with ranking is covering the subject completely, and longer pieces tend to do that more often, which is where the folklore comes from. Write until the question is answered, then stop. If you are padding to hit a number, the padding is the part a reader skips and the part an assistant will not quote.
How is reading time calculated?
At 238 words per minute, the median silent reading rate for adults reading English prose. Speeds vary widely by person and by material, so treat it as a rough guide rather than a measurement.
Does this count the same way as Google Docs or Word?
Close but not identical. Word counts differ between tools over hyphenated compounds, numbers and punctuation sitting alone. Differences of a few words across a long document are normal and do not mean either tool is wrong.
